Kelly Cowling

Hogwarts Preparatory Academy Headmistress

Headmistress Kelly Cowling was born in the United States but educated as an exchange student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United Kingdom where she was a member of Ravenclaw House. She is the daughter of non-magical parents, but, as a small child, she traveled extensively in the company of three great-aunts who were all gifted witches. These travels included visits to schools where children received their magical educations as early as age 8. Happy memories of her early magical lessons gave Cowling the courage to succeed at Hogwarts, a strange school far from her home. After graduating from Hogwarts, Cowling immediately took up a post at the International Department of Magical Education: American Office. She lobbied for more than two decades to be allowed to establish an institution for the education of pre-teen witches and wizards. Her persistence paid off when, in 2015, she and a team of dedicated colleagues were given permission to open the doors of Hogwarts Preparatory Academy at the Longmont Museum in Longmont, Colorado. Cowling was so profoundly impressed by the talent of Hogwarts Preparatory Academy students and delighted by the warmth of the Colorado community that she decided to make Longmont her permanent home. Cowling enjoys hiking with her dog, degnoming her garden, and gobstones. Her honors include: Order of Merlin (First Class), Former Assistant Mugwump of American Federation of Sorcery, Grand Sorc. (Honorary), Winner of Witch Weekly’s Most Interesting Eyebrows for Two Consecutive Years

Robyn Bosica

Muggle Relations Officer

Chief Muggle Relations Officer Robyn Bosica excelled at Muggle Studies at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She worked for many years as a liaison between the school and the Muggle parents of magical students. Now, she works for the International Confederation of Wizards to focus on improving relations between wizards and Muggles.                             Her dedication to Muggle-born students and their families led her to co-found Hogwarts Preparatory Academy. She saw that Muggle-born students benefit from the most from an early magical education. She works tirelessly to ensure that our school is proficient in every form of Muggle communication, including pocket phellytones and eckeltronic mail. She also works closely with the Muggles of Longmont Museum who believe that Hogwarts Preparatory Academy is a clown college.

Valaria Snape

Potions Master

Professor Valeria Snape is the daughter of Professor Severus Snape who you won’t find anywhere in the biographies of Harry Potter. At Hogwarts, she excelled at both Potions and Care of Magical Creatures but, ultimately, decided to follow in the footsteps of her brilliant father (who, contrary to popular belief, never really wanted that Defense Against the Dark Arts position.) Valeria Snape has invented a number of popular potions, including the Draught of Delightful Dreams. Valerie grew up believing that she would be sorted into Ravenclaw like her mother. She was shocked when she was sorted into Slytherin. Now, she loves to tell stories of karaoke nights and other shenanigans in the Slytherin common room during her time at Hogwarts. She is the current president of the North American Slytherin Alumni Association, Western Division.

Peter Dragonbottom

Care of Magical Creatures Professor

Like our Headmistress, Professor Peter Dragonbottom was an exchange student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was inspired by his hero, Newton Artemis Fido “Newt” Scamander, to study Care of Magical Creatures. He spent years traveling the world in search of dragons and studying their behaviors. He now travels to various conferences and schools to share his schools and conferences to share his dragon expertise and promote his book, A Brush with Death: Adventures in Dragon Dental Care. He is thrilled to return to Hogwarts Preparatory Academy every year to impart his knowledge to the young students.                                                                                                              Professor Dragonbottom is also proficient in both Muggle and Wizard dance styles. He plans to spend the next six months in Ukraine to study the Ironbelly dragon, but he will briefly return to the States in January to compete in the So You Think You Can Dance like a Muggle Disco and Polka Competition. He is pictured here [left] in one of his legendary dance-offs.

Salem Ruth Nelson

Dueling instructor, Professor of Defense against the Dark Arts

Professor Salem Ruth Nelson is a graduate of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she distinguished herself in Defensive Magic, Divination, and Performing Arts. As a student, she was fascinated by the history of the First Wizarding War in the United Kingdom. She made a particular study of The Order of the Phoenix, even going so far as to uncover the identities of Order members who remained active after the war. She made contact with Order member Hestia Jones during a school trip to London. The two remained frequent penpals. In 1997, Jones informed Nelson that the Battle of Hogwarts was in progress. Nelson was with Jones on the grounds of the school within hours.

Nelson was awarded for her bravery during the Battle and immediately offered a position in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement: Auror Division. Nelson turned down the offer, preferring, instead, to teach students who, like herself, dreamed of one day making a difference in the fight against Dark Magic.

Madame Emerald

World reknowned seer, Divination professor

Madame Emerald is a Swedish witch who was educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was a Slytherin Prefect. As a small child, she was identified as a gifted Seer. Her family is famous for elaborate and gracious afternoon tea ceremonies. Visitors flock from around the world to sit at the Emerald family table. This inspired Madame Emerald to direct her divination abilities to tea leaf readings.

Madame Emerald has been the divination consultant for Ministers of Magic, Heads of the Wizengamot, the Order of Merlin, and famed songstress, Celestina Warbeck. Madame Emerald conducts the annual Wizard Tea Ceremony at Hogwarts Preparatory Academy.

Marvin

Monster Book of Monsters

When asked for biographical information, Marvin had this to say, “Aaarrgggle, Blergggarawarg, Grrrrrr, Ppppbt!” Ironically, he is a book of few words.

Modesty Goshawk

Muggle Studies Professor

Professor Goshawk made history in 2020 by becoming the youngest Muggle Studies professor in the entire wizarding world. She is a talented young Gryffindor with a passion for all things Muggle.

Growing up in the forests of Northumberland near Alnwick, England, Modesty learned the family trade of wand making from her parents Silas and Rosemary Goshawk. The Goshawks operate the second largest wand shop in the United Kingdom. Modesty brings her wand expertise to the students at Hogwarts Preparatory Academy and encourages the use of wand charms!
